Fingerprint THIS!
Okay, so the US demands that some international flights... from OTHER countries... must have an armed officer of the law on any flight entering US airspace. Fine. We'll let them impose their will yet again, but what's this crap about photographing and fingerprinting people entering the country?
I was reading an article written by a security official that talked about the US plan to fingerprint and photograph everyone entering the country, and concluded that this wouldn't help with anything productive. If I enter the country one day under one name, and then enter it another day, under another name, they wouldn't have the computing power to compare fingerprints and nail me for lying with any speed that they could nab me before leaving the airport. More likely it would take weeks. This expert claimed the only reason for doing something like this was to harvest a large collection of names, faces and fingerprints. Hmmm.
All I know is, if I went to the US to go on holiday or for business reasons, and I was told to relinquish my fingerprint or my photo, I'd point out that I have a valid passport and then just turn around and leave. Like the BBC said today, all this move will do is alienate legitimate travelers without cutting down on terrorist traffic. Pure genius.
